I was recently wandering around on the web and I typed in the name of an old boyfriend of mine from HS. And there he was on Facebook. We haven't talked much but exchanged some short sentences concerning general info about our families in the years since the prom.

Wow, happy for him but surprised. He has been married for 36 yrs. (as he wrote) to the same woman. (I think that's great, if you are happy) and he has 9 (nine) children......

I felt a twinge of "Gee, our lives have been so different..." then I really had to think, would I have wanted to give birth to 9 children...I have to say...no, not really! So I'm very happy to have found him after so many years, and I'm glad things have gone so well for him and his wonderful family. But...I'm okay!

No Shine Tea Pots

No one enjoys shining those old tea pots. I paint them with permenamel and seal them with a high gloss glaze, formulated especially for enamel. They say you can wash them in the dish washer...but as the artist...please, warm, soapy, water,... rinse and towel dry! I will do special orders please send me an email. mystapring@yahoo.com

I have to go on treasure hunts for some of these tea sets! Please email in plenty of time before a special occasion, unless you decided on something I have already finished and set on the shelf!

Most of these are 95.00 for a three piece set... please look at my older posts... you may find something you like. My sculptures, jewelry, paintings and odds and ends are quite diverse, something for everyone (I hope)!

This was my new dragon commission. I have a few more and one that must be finished by the end of January. So I'm going to be burning the midnight oil quite a bit very soon. At this time I am working on a Predator, the most challenging part has been his dreadlocks. I hope I have succeeded in finding a proper solution to this. But I'll have to put it together to find out.

At any rate...it will have to be put on the back burner right now to begin the dragon...which has a deadline.

New dragon on the horizon!

This weekend I'll begin a new dragon. This is a commission. A long time customer of mine is a "Tucson Gem Show" participant and he has provided me with some cabochon stones to set in the dragon's breast bone. That's the only stipulation he has given me. The rest of the dragon is up to me. He wants him by Dec. so I need to begin so I'm not rushed. I'm really looking forward to it. The payment I receive from him will be saved for my "Gypsy Wagon".
I am busy making a chandelier for my home and my daughter and I have been making bottles, tiny bottles. A dear lady named Margaret bought several for the ladies in her family for Christmas gifts. That's what I'll be doing this weekend looking for family gifts. Many birthdays in October!

This is my precious little dog. I owned his mother who was a very sweet animal and I bred her to get a puppy for my mother. Brandon's mum had one puppy...him. My mom wanted a female so I said I would keep him. I fell in love, I had the privilege of his company for 18 years. He began to fail about 6 months ago. First he went blind, but still got around very well, he ate well and did everything well. A Week ago he began sleeping all day and night and last weekend he wouldn't eat. I hand fed him and made him drink water from my palm.
I knew what was coming...Tuesday afternoon I took off work and my daughter went with me. (I wasn't sure I could do this alone) I kissed him and whispered my love for him. I assured him he'd be free of the little,fluffy beautiful body that didn't quite work anymore. I cried, and I cried. The Doctor took my actions as if this was accepted behavior. A storm had been building, when we brought Brandon to the Vet, and the moment the Doctor quietly said he was gone, there was a flash of lightening and the thunder crashed in a deafening roar, it was one of the worst storms I've ever seen.
This is one of the hardest things I have ever done and now there is a large hole in my heart and my home because he's gone. Everyone says it will be less painful in time. This may seem strange to people who aren't animal lovers, but I loved that little guy and it's terribly painful to be without him.

This pic was taken out the window of my Barber Shop last week...looks intimidating doesn't it? It also looks very promising. Since we live in Tucson, Arizona and rain is something we rarely see. Not a drop of rain on my shop. I'm sure there was weather somewhere but not over my head. It is forecast 107 or 108 today. That sort of heat will usually brings on a very nice afternoon thunder storm. Here's hopin'!It's been a poor season for rain so far...come on RAIN!

I got the idea for this little girl from Brett Hess, I loved the little Munny he painted so I had to sculpt my own little explorer. I finished her yesterday she has a beautiful little braid that comes out of her helmet in the back! She is sculpted from air dry clay and painted with acrylics!

I love to paint on luggage, I don't know why. I found this case at a thrift sale. The inside is like new. So I painted the outside to be new also. It is painted with acrylics, and sealed with satin, polyurethane. I will post it for sale today on eBay and in my Etsy Shop.

I think this is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. Brett is on friend on face book and he is a great artist. I tried to buy a Munny...it's a toy you can paint on. They were out of stock. I couldn't stop thinking about it so I made one to paint. It's Brett's design he gets full credit but I had to try and make one. I made mine from air dry clay and it's similar because I found it soooo precious.

Here's another photo of Andy since the flesh tone was done and his blush is back. Tomorrow the eye brows and just a touch of Jack Sparrow eye shadow! Then some matt varnish and a couple days in recovery...and back home for Andy! (he keeps winking at me)

Something new...a customer of mine is a ventriloquist and asked if I could fix his life long friend. I said yes...then I sat hoping I could. First I sanded the old paint, then primed. Tried to match the skin tone as close as possible.
It was done originally with an airbrush, it's brand new, never been used! I was given my air brush on my birthday...1994! I"m afraid of it. I take it out and mess with it, point it in mid air and pull the trigger back and fourth...then I place it carefully back in it's pretty little foam lined case and slowly close the lid. Sick Huh?!!!
Long story short, I'm painting "Andy Woodrow" with out the aid of my precious gifted air brush! He's coming right along and I think by Tuesday he should be ready to sit on his best friend knee once more. It's been fun, I'll post a final pic of Andy after the mat vanish is applied!

The dragon is slowly taking shape. I work on these in my barber shop between hair cuts. So if the shop is busy, it takes longer to finish a dragon!

I fill in his skull with aluminium foil. (it also keeps the aliens from reading his thoughts, Ha Ha)

I layer the clay on the deer form. This small dragon took about a package and a half of DAS air dry clay. When the clay dries, usually the next day, I can begin sculpting my dragon's features!

I had a great birthday, I spent it with my daughters, a dear friend and my grand children. I got the greatest gifts, a T-shirt with my man on the front, a locket with a photo also of my man, a bottle of lavender, a monster, a clock with my man on the front, a crystal, three curio shelves my grand children found at a yard sale, and a butterfly! The picture is a picture of the t-shirt with my man on the front!And we had an all you can eat Taco fest and watched "The big bang theory".Very enjoyable!

I don't do a lot of writing on my blog...more photos. I like to think it's because my keyboard skips backward into the text I have just written. I am not proficient enough to watch the screen and type at the same time. I have to look at the keyboard, then by the time I look up I am lost in the prier text. It drives me crazy! So it more work than it is enjoyable! When I bite the bullet and buy a new computer, I hope that will clear up.
I was visiting Tabitha's blog and read her favorite music. I thought this might be interesting. My husband and I worked with Charlie twice in the 80s and I have to say... he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet!

I know this time of the year is rough on everyone, we're supposed to do what the media tells us to do. When it's all said and done, my favorite time is Christmas Night when I can put my feet up and reflect on the craziness...have grand one, what ever it is.
P.S. My daughter and I went to see Avatar yesterday...May I say first of all, "Wow, a feast for the eyes, and it harbours my general beliefs about mother earth. Beautiful go see it!"

Soon I will be establishing a web sight. It will be for the art I do for myself! I will as time goes by have a stable full of my dragons. Much like buying a horse, the patron can go through what's available in the stable or hatchery, (if you would) and pick a dragon from what is available. I have a buyer in the New York area, I will (hopefully) be doing some commissioned pieces for them. But otherwise, the dragons will be chosen from the shelves!

Something different! My daughter and I went to a show the other night and this is who was there. What a handsome, gracious man. I unfortunately have a new camera quite different from the old one. My daughter had changed the setting and I stupidly didn't check it before taking the "all important photo"! If you know my oldest daughter Dawn, you would know this is she and the delicious Gilles.
"sex in the city (movie)" Dancing with the stars, and Brothers and Sisters! When I got ready to take the picture, I said to Gilles, "I'm taking the picture, I'm her mother!" He looked at me and in a silky voice he replied, "I don't believe that!".................(did I mention he is "French"?} Smooooth!

Note to self... Always check your camera settings...before taking the picture!

This is a painting in progress that I am doing for my youngest daughter...sounds like it would be Disney but she's 34 and likes Vampires, this is Bram Stoker's Dracula, Gary Oldman in the character, or better known as Serious Black in some circles! This is a creepy, scary vampire. But...he's not finished tweaking to be done. The hands aren't done yet most of the areas in white are unfinished. Just thought I'd stick it on here for something to do.

I haven't done much this last few weeks. The wind has left my sails as they say. My mother passed away last Tuesday night. I have okay days and very bad days...to be fair the nights are the worst. I can't sleep. My mind won't stop thinking. It's no wonder people are driven to drink or do drugs in difficult times. The strongest thing I have in the house this evening is cough syrup. That's pitiful.
I have never been good at creating when I'm sad, I'm sure I'll get better,it's life after all, but that doesnt make it any easier!But it really is a "heart ache" it's so physical.
I do love to see what everyone else is up to, you are all so talented. I'm very blessed to have your acquaintances.

Well I have begun painting my antlered dragon. I am still working out the colors, but the client asked for specific ones now just waiting for the dragon to let me know where they go. I primed him this morning and unfortunately...it was slow at the shop today so...I began painting. I think I am going to like him! Beware, WIP!

I've been working on my new wands and a dragon experiment but I made this the other day in the shop. It's 2" long and 1 1/2" wide. Polymer clay...optic fiber stone.

Well, here are a few things I've been working on at home. At work I have a dragon and a new one I just started for a client! But yesterday I went to an Antique fair and got a few things for my dragon I have been working on just for me.
It was 105 degrees and that was about 10 AM. I also bought an umbrella for the sun as I forgot mine at home. But all in all it was a good day for creativity! I am working on a couple of wands. The one with the eyes is quite a bit further along than the dragon head. I started that last night in poor lighting while watching the third installment of "Underworld" so it has a long way to go...

Time....we never seem to have enough of it, but I am literally out of time. I am in the process of making something that requires small wrist watches! All shapes and sizes! It's fine if they don't work, I actually prefer that. They don't have to have a crystal on the face either I will Envirotex the face if the crystal is missing. This ia a call for a "Bag" of watches! They don't need a wrist band either, just the watch! ANYONE have any... let me know and I'll buy them...Misty

This is my daughter on her trip to England almost three years ago. She left the US with 35 dollars and a windbreaker! She is Crazy! I told her the thing I wanted most was a picture of her at Stonehenge! In the original picture there is a fence right behind her shoulders, she and her(then) boyfriend didn't want to pay the fee to get any closer so Shannon took the fence out with her photo shop, clever girl!She said it was bitterly cold, she was born in Arizona! I'm on my way to work but thought I'd share one of my favorite photos with my "blog hood neighbors" have a great day!!

This is a photo of a corner in my Barber shop....these are paintings of mine a small dragon I did and my daughters Vampire heads! Looking at this with the eyes of a new customer....I wonder why we are slow? Seems perfectly normal to me!
Well I'm off to work and after work...myself and my daughters are going to see "The Half-blood Prince!" Yippeeeeee!(supper will be a hot dog and popcorn, this evening!!!! It's been a long wait!
