"Keep an eye on it!"

Well...I don't smoke, don't have a soap box about it, just never did But years ago my husband did and a lot of people I knew when I worked my night job. So I bought these covers for Bic lighters and now I cover them with polymer clay, and acrylic paint.
This one I just finished today. My husband used to say "Keep an eye on my lighter!" So...what else could I do? I use them for incense and I can never find one. I always end up lighting the incense on my stove! Anyway here's a couple pictures, just a wee bit strange, I think...but wickedly fun!

My own Butterfly!

Just home for my lunch hour, I don't have any thing earth shaking to comment on except I am feeling very creative right now and I have to go back to work. So I will get out my journal and write down some Ideas so I can ponder them later when I have some time this weekend! Everyone is so nice here and I love visiting your blogs. Thank you for your kind comments on my work. I'm honored to share it with you. Cindy...congrats on your new grand baby!
This is a photo of my oldest daughter Dawn and her husband in a dance compitition a few years ago. They used to compete all over the U.S.! I think she looks like a butterfly.

More fairies...

I think I just had to get the green dragon off of the stage! "Exit stage left!"

Okay...I think I'm done!

I'd like to say how much I enjoyed sharing this little guy with all my friends. I hope the people I made him for are as happy with it and as kind to me as you have been! Only thing left to do will be to varnish it, that always enhances the color a bit and then it really looks finished! Thank you again for all your wonderful comments! I value them greatly!

Little by little...

You can catch fairies but ya gotta keep 'em in a jar!

Here are three fairies I have sculpted, I really enjoy these little guys. I wish I had more time to sculpt a few new ones! I'd like to learn more about creating them. I believe practice is the best way to learn.

One Of My poems...

My home reflects a lost time gone by,

With lacey curtains and oil lamps to read by.

Old photos and flowers are hung on my walls,

But as my mind day dreams another voice calls.

From the final frontier, "where no mans gone before,"

It's always Jim Kirk who knocks on my door.

His hazel green eyes and sandy brown hair,

Make me forget...I'm really not there.

I'm thrust in the future along Jim Kirk's side,

With Zulu and Bones along for the ride.

We're Beamed to a planet where something's a miss,

I walk with the Captain, and pray for a kiss.

He suddenly turns and say's with a smile,

"Beam us up, Mr. Spock...tell Transporter Chief Kile!"

As the Transporter beam hums, I awake with a shock,

As the little bird chirps in my old coo-coo clock!

Alien Abduction!

I know it's scary to think about but it happens...well as they say, "Turn around is fair play!" I did a "Human Abduction!" And here's proof!
My mom had this little guy in her beanie baby collection and I couldn't resist him!
THE THINGS YOU'LL DO WHEN YOU'RE BORED!

Shirley...get some decent old boots at a yard sale or thrift store, paint 'em with acrylics, and gloss polyurethane and your good to go.

Just a little further along...

Thank you everyone for your kind comments! As you can see I haven't started on the ears yet...soon! He is coming right along though. I was sick all week so I just began painting him yesterday. Now a little more today, and tomorrow I'll get up early and come spend some time with him, he's on his way to taking his first breath!
Oh yeah...in the last picture that's my youngest daughter, Shannon. She thought it would be funny to jump into my picture! She's the one wearing the glasses!

Walking In someone else's shoes...

Something we should try and do every now and then. Some boots I painted! Interesting fact...with all the people that showed up in Washington to witness our new President's swearing in...there were no arrests, for anything! Very cool!

He kinda grows on ya!

Okay, I had to make this dragon for a commission, but they gave me a one dimensional photo to do a three dimensional sculpture from. It's completely different from my other dragons, but you know what...he kind of grows on you. The ears aren't quite finished and as soon as that's done I'll begin priming and painting.
I made the ears removable because it has to be shipped across the country. They can put them on when he gets there. I'll probably begin painting this weekend...hopefully I'll feel better!

Birthday Bugs...

My Birthday...this is the first year I really didn't care to celebrate. Time moves so quickly when you reach a certain age. When we're young and don't realize how lucky we are it creeps by. Then when we wish it would slow a bit it jumps into Warp Speed.
I went to my daughter's and she cooked a great dinner, we had the Birthday Cake which I must add, had (what my daughter called) Tim Burton candles and we would have watched a movie of my choice but my two year old grand daughter had other ideas. She was running a fever with a stuffy nose and for some reason I was the person with the magic touch.
After much rocking and questionable singing she fell asleep. But she did give me something for my B-Day, I now have a wonderful cold. I've been home from work two days. If the baby felt anything like I do, it's no wonder she was grumpy. Must now take some medicine and a nap!

Yankee Ingenuity!

I went to the grocery store earlier today, I saw this and could'nt resist taking this picture! My daughter and I really enjoyed this scene...I wanted to share it with you. I have seen more and more of the smart cars, but this is the first time I have ever seen such creative parking!

Not my normal dragon...

This dragon is far from finished. But I thought I'd share a bit of it with you.

Photo Lamps

Here's something that gets a lot of attention in my shop. I had pictures of my family reproduced in black and white then decoupaged them on a lamp shade. I also burnt the edges of each picture to give them a parchment appearance! Everyone stops to take a peek.
It's also nice if you can get access to someones photos unbeknownst to them, make your B and W copies and create them a lamp for a special occasion!

Johnny Leonard

This is a sculpture I did of my late ex-husband, we were friends after our marriage desolved. He would have liked this. I did it for my daughter at her request!

Snapely Snapper

I don't know why fish end up with faces, they just do...this is my version of Prof. Snape.

My Cream Pitcher Chandelier

I have found this to be a creative way of keeping me from breaking treasured family antiques and also keeping them in my line of vision. Now every time I look up I think of my grand mother and my Aunt Mary!

Meeting of the minds...

My daughter and my dog don't usually get along, but now they seem to have an interest in common. "Chess" The only problem now is waiting for the next move!

Just something about a baby...

A KISS FOR A DRAGON! This dragon first of all is far from finished. It's also a commission and much different than any of my other dragons. My heart really isn't in it, unlike the ones that come from my imagination. But I couldn't resist posting this picture, since Lizzy was in it! Miss Elizabeth Darcey O'Dell. She's two, and my grand daughter! She is smart as a whip and cute as a button, little chubby cheeks and all, she loves Grand Ma Ma's dragons...shes my shortest fan!
