My Twilight Highlight...

Remembering memories...

Interesting thing about Christmas, it has a tendency to rattle the old memories to the middle of the room. All you need is a tiny bit of time alone and out they come. Amazing though how the unpleasant ones get less unpleasant as time goes on. A couple photos from the old life!

A slide of dragons and assorted creatures...

A few more of my critters from my cluttered mind!

A work in progress...

Haven't yet finished this but it's on it's way!

Another one of my paintings...

Gallery "slash" Barber Shop...

I was just looking for a few pics of my shop! Thought I'd throw them up here just for the heck of it. I make art between the haircuts in my shop. Thank goodness for my art or on a slow day in the shop I'd go crazy! (or crazier)

Something for myself...

Isn't it funny, we always wish to sell our art work... then when it happens, we begin to wish to have time to be able to make things once again for ourselves! The public is demanding and has many ideas which they aren't shy about sharing with which ever artist they may have commissioned, at some point those suggestions slowly turn art work into "work"!
So before I begin my next dragon with the certain specs of the patron, on Tuesday...I shall paint for myself this weekend! It's often exhausting but the feeling I derive from it keeps me getting out of bed in the morning rather than curling up in a fetal position under the nice warm covers! Sell some, but don't forget to create for you too!

A Really fun Christmas Gift

My oldest daughter has a crush on a certain Vampire. It began long ago when this said vampire was a student by the name of Cedric Diggory at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He came to an early demise only to be reborn as the undead version of a rather hunky vampire by the name of Edward Cullen.
My youngest daughter realized Santa's gifts might fall short where her sister was concerned this Christmas, so she took it into her own hands and gave her "Edward" by way of the wondrous world of electronic wizardry.
Although it was her first attempt at anything like this, needless to say the desired results were acquired. The altered photos were put in a frame, on a pen, and on a thermal coffee cup. When she opened the gifts she said, "Oh, Edward and Bella!" and then she looked closer and I thought she was going to faint. At some point I will retrieve that photo of the moment in time when she realized it was her photo and not Bella's! It was truly priceless!(and a lot of fun too) Interesting how most of my presents this Christmas weren't anything I could actually hold in my hand, but wonderful moments I can forever hold in my heart!Hope your Christmas was as Merry (and fun)as mine!

My Grand Parents My Father and My Aunt Mary...

A special poem...

"Special Love"

There's someone special in my life,

He's not my brother and I'm not his wife.

He's always there at the end of my day,

If I lose my temper he loves me anyway.

His chocolate brown eyes say all that needs said,

At the end of my day he's there in my bed.

With warm wet kisses that tickle my ears,

I'm content in the knowledge we'll be together for years.

He's my best friend and all that he asks,

Is a tender caress or a pat on the back.

A fierce protector in the face of aggression,

Although I love him I have a confession.

I constantly search for the prince of my heart,

Someone who love me right from the start.

A true love who'll tolerate all that goes on.

A man who will LOVE... my pomeranian!

For Brandon

A poem about our insrtuctor...

Weaponless Hands"

The mighty warrior stood in his land, fearless and calm with weaponless hands.

Shareing the knowledge of ancients you see, with everyday mortals like you and like me.

He had fought many demons throughout his time, which ravaged his body and tortured his mind.

His victories were hailed through far reaching lands, villians feared and cowered at his weaponless hands.

But waiting in his path, in a dark, damp place, was a foe so evil... it had no face.

So small and mynute it could not be spied, the deadliest enemy which could not be denied.

It flew with such grace and such ease on the air, that no one knew it even was there.

It touched our great warrior, he had no defense, the agression it showed... to our minds, made no sense.

It snuffed out his light, but his memory will live, in our hearts and our minds... we will try to forgive!

In memory of Mr. Z

This is an older poem of mine...

"Day Dreams"

My home reflects a lost time gone by,

With lacey curtains and oil lamps to read by.

Old photos and flowers are hung on my walls,

But as my mind day dreams another voice calls.

From the final frontier, "where no mans gone before,"

It's always Jim Kirk who knocks on my door.

His hazel green eyes and sandy brown hair,

Make me forget...I'm really not there.

I'm thrust in the future along Jim Kirk's side,

With Zulu and Bones along for the ride.

We're Beamed to a planet where something's a miss,

I walk with the Captain, and pray for a kiss.

He suddenly turns and say's with a smile,

"Beam us up, Mr. Spock...tell Transporter Chief Kile!"

As the Transporter beam hums, I awake with a shock,

As the little bird chirps in my old coo-coo clock!

One of my poems...

Moonlight

As the sun leaves the sky, the moon rises above, I wait in my chamber for my one true love.

He is there at my window, bathed in the moonlight...my heart skips a beat as he comes into sight.

As I beckon him in and I nod my consent, he crosses the threshold and makes his descent.

Touching my skin with his cool, smooth hands, I kiss his lips sweetly and I await his demands.

I feel safe and alive, while in his embrace then I look in his eyes as he kisses my face.

There's something within that I can't recognize, it's hidden down deep in the depths of his eyes.

My body betrays me...as he kisses my neck his lips feel like fire as they continue thier trek.

His mouth glides like silk to the pulse of my heart, then with no hint of warning, he halts with a start.

The pain is exquisite, as it floods through my viens, my lips part to scream but in silence I remain.

I lie still as he feeds, his long hair on my breast, I am so sad to find... life's no longer my quest!

The best thing about this Christmas...

This Christmas... the meal was great, the grandchildren got everything they asked Santa for, (very lucky). But the best thing was going to see my mom! My two daughters, myself and my two year old grand daughter, drove to where my mother has been for almost 8 years. She has Alzheimer's, she has no recognition of any of us. She is in the moment. It is very painful for me to see her this way. I have been ashamed of myself because I find it so painful, due to my own discomfort...I don't visit nearly as much, as I know I should!
But yesterday, mom was sitting alone, in her chair (I bought her an overstuffed Lazy Boy, a way of expressing my love for her and appeasing my guilt for not being there more, I'm sure), we walked in, I kissed her on the top of her head and I sat on her bed and watched my family visit and sing songs that my mom could remember the words to from when she taught them to me. My baby grand daughter was afraid of her at first then gradually began to warm, as only children can. She doesn't have any prior memories of the woman who raised her grandmother, just this moment and the tiny white haired woman in the chair speaking mostly gibberish and cooing to the child. Remarkably my mother's speech began to clear and she formed phrases such as "beautiful child", and "she's so pretty") The sweet expression I remember so well was back in her eyes (if only for a short time, but I saw my mom in there) to see the baby bring out the mother I use to know was a precious gift given to me yesterday. Rarely do the gifts that mean everything to your soul, come from a store!
Merry Christmas...

Almond mice...

My daughter had a Christmas party at her work today and she brought me home a prize! This darling little mouse. One of her co-workers had a whole pan full, lightly perched on shavings of coconut. The mouse is made of almond paste, almond ears, and what looks to be chocolate sprinkles for eyes...and of course we know what the tail is. I love these, they will be my new party favor...hmmmm, now I remember why people stopped inviting me to parties!

A week before Christmas...

A week before Christmas and I haven't shopped for anything. I know, I know...it's not about the gifts, but try that one year and see how much fun you have. I just seem to have a phobia about spending money this year I know I will but I'm really having trouble letting go of it right now.
Here are a couple more picture of some of my creations!

New Dragon

This is my newest dragon, she's still waiting to be varnished, but she looks pretty in purple.
